Asia's No. 1 Metaverse Platform ZEPETO Reaches 300 Million Global Users

- Overseas users account for 95% of total 20 million monthly active users (MAU), reflecting growth of ZEPETO as a global metaverse platform
- Content creation platform ZEPETO Studios, records 2 million creators, with 68 million units of creator-made items sold


NAVER Z, affiliate of NAVER Corp. (KRX: 035420), announced today that the number of global registered users on its metaverse platform, ZEPETO, has exceeded 300 million. 
Launched in August 2018, ZEPETO is available in more than 200 countries worldwide, including Korea, China, Japan, and the United States. It’s global user base surpassed 200 million registered users in February 2020 and subsequently grew to 300 million within the next 12 months, including 20 million global monthly active users (MAU). Additionally, ZEPETO creators traded more than 2.3 billion self-made metaverse items with other users.


As Asia's No. 1 metaverse platform, ZEPETO has become a space where users can engage in various activities such as buying luxury goods and attending fan meetings by collaborating with fashion and beauty companies such as Christian Dior, Gucci, Nike, Ralph Lauren, and global entertainment agencies such as HYBE Co., JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment. ZEPETO has grown rapidly among Gen Z, with overseas accounts making up about 95% of all users.


With the creator economy booming, ZEPETO is offering an exciting suite of services that enable users to become solopreneurs and profit from the platform. This includes its content creation feature, ZEPETO Studio, which was launched in April 2020, has gained popularity amongst Gen Z globally who enjoy communicating, collaborating and creating. About 2 million creators have signed up for the platform, which allows them to easily design clothing items for avatars as well as create their own virtual worlds. Approximately 4.1 million items were made by ZEPETO creators, with 68 million units sold.
