NAVER Corporation (CEO Choi Soo-yeon) will launch its new AI service, “AI Briefing,” available to all users, on March 27. It will be directly available to anyone through the NAVER search bar without the need to sign up for a separate service subscription. Starting with AI Briefing, NAVER plans to accelerate its “On-Service AI” strategy by integrating AI into its services.

Built upon the philosophy of “diversity” and “connection” in comprehensive search, AI Briefing aims to enhance the seamless connection between 40 million users and relevant content while boosting exposure for 3.3 million SMEs

AI Briefing is initially introduced in various optimized formats to cater to different needs. These include a search feature that provides summarized answers; the “AI Shopping Guide” via the newly launched “NAVER Plus Store” app; “Place,” which provides diverse location-based information; and “Shortents,” which highlight trending topics. While maintaining the usability of traditional search, AI Briefing has been designed with scalability in mind to enhance the search ecosystem further.

AI Briefing reflects NAVER’s values of “diversity” and “connection.” It provides a summary of answers based on user queries while intuitively displaying the summarized response along with the creator and original content source for easy verification. The process of linking to the creator’s original document is expected to revitalize the content ecosystem. As AI Briefing expands across various NAVER services throughout the year, it will not only enhance connections between 40 million users and relevant content but also increase exposure opportunities for 3.3 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

A range of optimized UI/UX designs and strategically placed exposures tailored for the usability of each service, equipped with “scalability” and “diversity” to support service expansion

AI Briefing is available in various formats, featuring different UI/UX designs and diverse exposure placements to provide optimal search flow based on user intent. Additionally, a wide range of content pools is utilized to optimize answers to search queries. Short-form content, places, and shopping are seamlessly integrated as nudges within the user’s search flow. At the same time, informational queries that have definitive answers or require exploration appear at the top of search results.

First, the official/multisource AI Briefing format provides key information at the top of search results for queries that have definitive answers or require exploration of various content. By presenting well-organized summaries and sources, AI Briefing shortens the time needed to obtain desired information while also enabling further discovery of related content through follow-up questions. AI Briefing’s scope will expand to a wide range of topics, starting with practical and engaging search topics, such as various how-to guides for everyday life, trending memes, intriguing movie endings, and even dream interpretations. For example, when users search for “driver’s license renewal requirements” or “passport photo glasses,” AI Briefing will deliver summarized answers based on official sources, such as government or public institution websites, and direct users to the corresponding links of the relevant pages. Moreover, for trending meme queries such as “meaning of Chill guy” or searches about the ending of a drama or movie, users can simply search terms like “OOO ending,” and AI Briefing will provide a summarized response from multiple sources at the top, helping users quickly grasp the full content. To do this, AI Briefing utilizes a wide range of independent content pools, such as blogs, cafes, and clips, delivering results tailored to the user’s intent in an optimized format. Depending on the query, the feed section at the bottom provides personalized recommendations that match the user’s search context, enhancing the overall search experience.

Meanwhile, short-form content–type AI Briefing summarizes recommended short-form content, allowing users to quickly grasp the main ideas and access more details from the original content. It also analyzes user behavior and recommends additional content that aligns with their interests. If users explore short-form content keywords on various topics like sports, beauty, or travel, AI Briefing may curate sports highlight videos, recommend trending products, and provide information on popular destinations, including search and reservation details. Personalized recommendations are expected to be further enhanced to reflect users’ interests in the future.

On the other hand, place-type AI Briefing helps users explore local information in an engaging and in-depth manner. It will recommend personalized content tailored to user’s preferences, including travel information and trending destinations both domestic and international. Initially, it will focus on popular Japanese destinations such as Osaka and Kyoto before expanding to various travel destinations worldwide. For example, when users search for travel themes such as “Kyoto travel,” AI technology automatically categorizes frequently searched and widely produced information, displaying a curated tab that delivers key content and travel-related information across a range of helpful themes. Users can explore themes that reflect seasonal trends, timeliness, and unique characteristics, such as must-try foods, regional cultures, and popular hotels available for reservation. AI Briefing is expected to serve as a guide that helps users find travel information quickly while also matching their interests.

AI Briefing has also been integrated into shopping. On March 12, NAVER introduced the AI Briefing feature through its shopping app, “NAVER Plus Store.” The “AI Shopping Guide,” integrated into shopping, summarizes vast search results into optimized, shopper-friendly information, providing product features and purchasing tips. Even without specifying product details or usage purposes, users can still find the most suitable product with just a few clicks. By minimizing the time and effort required for information search and swiftly providing key information necessary for purchasing decisions, the feature significantly enhances user shopping satisfaction.

In addition to expanding AI Briefing coverage across various queries within the year, NAVER also plans to introduce new features such as multimodal services through image search and multilingual support for English, Japanese, and other languages, advancing the platform’s technology to deliver richer AI-driven experiences.

Kim Kwang Hyun, Head of NAVER’s Search and Data Platform Division, stated, “With AI Briefing as the starting point, NAVER Search will continue to evolve, leveraging its extensive deep search service expertise and vast user data to connect users with rich content and ensure easier access to the information they need.” He added, “We will also ensure that we are prepared to deliver new user experiences in a timely manner, as AI agents become part of daily life.” </End>
