NAVER Cloud today announced that its business communication platform, NAVER WORKS, grew by 2.7x in the number of clients and 5.3x in the number of total users from the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 to early 2022. NAVER WORKS sees surge in the utilization of features and user base growth as remote work becomes the new norm
NAVER WORKS is a Software-as-a-service (SaaS) collaborative business platform launched by NAVER Cloud in 2016 in Korea and Japan. Equipped with all the essential functions for collaborative work required by businesses, including a messenger, calendar and contacts to e-mail, cloud drives and video conference meetings, NAVER WORKS recently surpassed 350,000 global clients with its exceptional accessibility and stability.
NAVER Cloud released data on changes in the workplace following the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, comparing the user patterns in February 2020 to those in February 2022.
According to NAVER Cloud, the number of businesses using the service increased by 2.7x and the number of total users by 5.3x, proving that more businesses have shifted to virtual, collaborative business platforms for effective remote work since the start of the outbreak.
NAVER WORKS’ various feature offerings also saw an increased usage. The number of total conversations, use of emoticons, and files shared each increased by 2.5x, 2.3x and 2.7x, respectively. This result can be attributed to the prolonged pandemic, which has decreased face-to-face meetings and increased communication and collaboration between different organizations and business units. NAVER WORKS offers various collaborative functions that users can use to save and share work documents as well as manage tasks and schedules, with features such as notes, folders, to-do lists and calendars. Among these, the usage of notes and adding comments to the notes increased by 4.9x and 4.3x, respectively.
As virtual meetings and remote work became the new norm, the use of video meetings also grew. One-on-one video meetings increased by 17.7x, group video meetings increased by 16.5x, and screen share usage went up by 4x.
Finally, other work-related communication to share company news through features, such as bulletin boards and polls, showed significant growth. The number of posts on bulletin boards increased by 3.4x and the number of views on these posts also grew by 3.2x. Furthermore, the number of polls created — a feature that enables users to conveniently gather and share employees’ opinions —reached 8.3x, clearly demonstrating that all aspects of internal communication through the virtual platform has increased.

NAVER WORKS tops the charts in customer loyalty and usage time in Q4 of 2021
NAVER Cloud shared data comparing different collaborative business platforms’ customer loyalty, average usage rates and total users. The data — from a report provided by Mobile Index, a Korean mobile app market analysis company — analyzed six domestic service providers that offer collaborative business platforms available on Android and iOS, with functions such as e-mail, messenger and cloud drives.
According to Mobile Index’s report, NAVER WORKS was the most frequently used business communication platform among the six services. In average monthly use, an indicator of customer loyalty, NAVER WORKS topped the list at 16.5 days per user, followed by JANDI (16 days), Dooray (15.7 days), kakaowork (15.5 day), hiworks (14 days) and Flow (13.9 days). NAVER WORKS also recorded the highest monthly use time per user with 92.6 minutes, followed by JANDI (84.7 minutes), Dooray (74.5 minutes), kakaowork (65.9 minutes), Flow (62.3 minutes) and hiworks (33.2 minutes).
NAVER WORKS was also found to have the longest total daily, weekly and monthly usage time per person. It recorded 5,435 hours of daily use, 37,107 hours weekly usage, and 166,679 hours in a month per person, followed by Jandi, kakaowork, hiworks, Dooray and Flow, in order of usage frequency.
“In this era of hybrid work, NAVER WORKS provides a disruption-free work continuity, not only in a web-based setting but also on mobile, and has proven to be the top service of its kind in Korea,” said Yoon Chan-ho, director of the Communication & Collaboration department at NAVER Cloud. “We will strive to offer continuous updates and actively reflect customer feedback so that businesses of all sizes and industries can take advantage of NAVER WORKS.”
