NAVER Corp. (KRX: 035420) announced that its artificial intelligence (AI) voice recording service CLOVA Note will begin its global expansion in the Japanese market, available at https://clovanote.line.me/ and on the iOS and Android app stores in Japan.

The basic functions of the Japanese version are almost the same as the Korean version. When Japanese voice is recorded directly in the app or a file is uploaded, it is converted to text. Japanese version of CLOVA Note is also equipped with bookmark, memo, search, and speaker classification functions, just like its Korean version. However, some functions, such as sharing, linkage to video conference and multilingual simultaneous recognition are expected to be updated in the near future. The Korean and English recognition feature will be provided in the first half of the year.
NAVER applied HyperCLOVA's technology to Japanese CLOVA Note’s Neural End-to-end Speech Transcriber (NEST) speech recognition engine to increase the accuracy. The performance was efficiently improved by applying a self-supervised learning technique that can be used for AI training even on unlabeled data.
CLOVA Note has recently surpassed 2.3 million cumulative downloads in Korea and continues to grow rapidly amid favorable user reviews. Due to the increased number of student users since the beginning of the latest semester, the overall number of monthly active users (MAU) reached 470,000 last month, nearly twice that of January.
NAVER continues to advance the service based on its AI technology. Recently, Chinese has been added to the recognition languages, enabling voice recognition in Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese. In February, NAVER applied a multilingual recognition function that can recognize a mixture of Korean and English. Also, for greater convenience, NAVER upgraded certain features in CLOVA Note such as the ability to quickly identify essential keywords in voice notes using AI and allowing users to include highlights in voice notes. The main content summary function using hyperscale AI HyperCLOVA’s language model is also expected to be released soon. NAVER plans to apply CLOVA Note to meeting rooms in the recently opened second headquarter building 1784, and use it to organize meeting minutes.

NAVER plans to expand its global business by sequentially launching CLOVA Note in the North American and Asian markets during the second half of the year, starting with Japan. Along with features, such as work account and group management, CLOVA Note will be developed as a service specialized for the work environment by strengthening linkages with various work tools.
“The biggest strength of CLOVA Note is its unrivaled voice recognition performance based on NAVER’s voice AI technology. We will continue to expand the service region and provide everyday convenience to global users,” said Hahn Ik-sang, CLOVA Note service team leader.
