Lookism, a WEBTOON hit, has been adapted into a Netflix series and will be available for streaming worldwide from today. It is the first animation produced and streamed by Netflix based on a digital comics IP.
The original webcomic, Lookism by Taejun Park is a school drama that takes place when the main character, who is full of insecurities, suddenly has two bodies, with one having the perfect looks. Lookism was first released in 2014 via Manhwa Challenge, where amateur creators upload their webcomics in WEBTOON. Since its release, the title has been at the top of WEBTOON for eight years. Lookism is available in nine languages, including English, Japanese, and Thai, and has accumulated over 9.1 billion views globally.
The Netflix series of the same name was first unveiled as a new lineup at Netflix's global fan event 'TUDUM JAPAN' in September. In Japan, an animation powerhouse, veteran voice actors who appeared in the Japanese dubbed versions of Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan were cast, such as Matsuoka Yoshitsuku and Ono Daisuke. After tv series based on WEBTOONs released through Netflix set a new global box office record, many are waiting to see whether animations based on the webcomic set in Seoul can produce good results.

The Netflix series Lookism, based on the WEBTOON original, will be simultaneously released worldwide at 5 pm on December 8th (KST). Famous voice actors such as Kyuhyuk Shim, Shin Han, Seunggon Ryu participated in the Korean dubbing.
Meanwhile, the webcomic Lookism can be enjoyed on NAVER WEBTOON and NAVER SERIES services.
