NAVER Launches Beta of “Whale Enterprise” to Enhance Communication and Security in Enterprises
- NAVER Cloud signed an MOU with Korea Aerospace University (KAU) and ZeronsoftN on May 3rd to expand into the enterprise browser market
- The partnership will offer companies the ability to customize browser settings according to their internal policies.- Whale’s client-side detection (CSD) engine proactively blocks phishing attempts and its policy management feature helps prevent human errors
May 4, 2023
NAVER Whale launched a beta version of “Whale Enterprise,” which is a browser designed for businesses and organizations. Whale Enterprise can be customized to meet the needs of organization members, and the browser administrator can manage the settings for the user interface, web application, and security of the browser. Once employees receive their Whale Enterprise accounts and sign in, they can access and perform tasks within the browser environment configured by the organization.
Whale Enterprise aims to help businesses emphasize their identity in the browser while also improving work efficiency and security through convenience and security features. The browser's home screen UI can be customized to display the company bulletin board. In addition, key platforms and reference URLs can be bookmarked for easy access, which could help increase work efficiency.

Whale Enterprise incorporates features such as policy management and client-side detection (CSD) engine, which can help reduce the risk of security breaches caused by phishing and malicious programs. By prioritizing security through features such as policy management and CSD, Whale Enterprise aims to provide a more secure browsing experience for businesses and organizations.
Whale Enterprise's policy management feature allows administrators to manage the permissions and restrictions for their employees when using the browser. This can include blocking access to websites that may pose security risks or restricting browser access during specific times in alignment with the company's online work policy. The customized browser settings can be applied to specific departments, individuals, or the entire workforce, and the manager of each department can modify the policy according to the department's characteristics.
The CSD engine incorporated into Whale Enterprise can help protect against phishing attempts by analyzing images and URLs of potentially malicious websites. The engine then assesses the likelihood of a phishing attempt and proactively blocks access to the site. In addition to this feature, NAVER Cloud plans to add additional security features to Whale Enterprise that can be used in the work environment, such as the ability to block downloads.
[Korea Aerospace University (KAU) becomes the first to adopt Whale Enterprise... NAVER Cloud will advance the features and officially launch the service this year]
A Whale Enterprise beta will be introduced to Korea Aerospace University (KAU), Korea’s only university specializing in aerospace studies. On May 3, NAVER Cloud (CEO Kim Yoo-won) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KAU (President Heo Hee-young) and ZeronsoftN Corporation (CEO Song Chang-min) for the introduction of Whale Enterprise and enhancement of enterprise browsers.

As online lectures and exams become more common, KAU decided to implement Whale Enterprise to enhance security and ensure fair grade management. KAU will provide feedback on Whale Enterprise to help improve its features. Based on this feedback, NAVER Cloud will upgrade its features, improve its stability, and officially launch Whale Enterprise later this year. ZeronsoftN, a PC management solution provider, will support the stable operation of Whale Enterprise on PCs at KAU with its technological capabilities.
Choi Young-sik, Dean of AI Convergence University at KAU, said, “To prevent data leakage in situations like online exams, it is crucial to implement additional technical measures. The use of Whale Enterprise is expected to be an effective response to such concerns. During exams, students can only access relevant websites through Whale Enterprise, and are prohibited from installing any other programs, thereby establishing a secure testing environment.”
“This collaboration presents an opportunity to tackle various challenges that arise in environments where PCs must be operated and managed collectively, particularly in university settings,” said Song Chang-min, CEO of ZeronsoftN. “ZeronsoftN will leverage its expertise in the ‘unmanned automation and efficient management of IT devices’ to collaborate closely with KAU and NAVER Whale.”
Kim Hyo, director of NAVER Cloud, said, “NAVER Whale realizes the potential of browsers to evolve to various forms, ranging from the EdTech platform ‘Whale Space’ to ‘Whale Enterprise.’ Whale Enterprise is a new attempt to move beyond a ‘window’ that displays the web interface and transform into a ‘service’ that improves work stability and browser proficiency.”
