A United Arab Emirates (UAE) delegation of high-ranking representatives from the Sharjah royal family, including HH Sheikh Saud Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, visited NAVER’s tech convergence building 1784, which integrates the technological excellence of the Korea’s leading information technology (IT) company, on June 12.
The visit by the Sharjah Emirates royal delegation was arranged as part of their ongoing efforts to boost nationwide digital innovation and infrastructure development and to seek opportunities to collaborate with Korea by meeting with field experts and visiting companies. Sheikh Saud Sultan is also the director of the Sharjah Digital Authority (SDA).
The Sharjah Emirates delegation explored various areas of NAVER 1784, experiencing firsthand cases of “tech convergence,” which NAVER showcases by integrating advanced technologies, such as robots, autonomous driving, cloud computing, digital twins, and 5G, with the physical space. Sheikh Saud Sultan displayed interest in native language-based large language models (LLMs) and engaged in extensive discussions with NAVER on their generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

The delegation included Abdulla Naqi from the SDA and Fahim Bin Sultan Bin Khalid Al Qasimi, executive chairman of the Sharjah Department of Government Relations. The President of NAVER’s ESG and External Policy Chae Seon-ju, NAVER LABS CEO Seok Sang-ok, NAVER Cloud CEO Kim Yoo-won, and NAVER Cloud Director for AI Innovation Center Ha Jung-woo accompanied the visit.
NAVER’s second headquarters, 1784, which is attracting visitors from all over the world, is the world’s first robot-friendly building and a space for tech convergence. Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing recently visited NAVER 1784 and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with NAVER to promote nationwide digital transformation. Under Secretaries of the US Department of State and Department of Homeland Security, Singapore’s Minister for Communications and Information, the president of the Austrian National Council, and the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) have also visited NAVER 1784.
Sheikh Saud Sultan said, “Having witnessed Korea’s advanced digital infrastructure and technology, I was able to gain valuable insights for Sharjah’s digital innovation and infrastructure development.”

Collaboration between NAVER and the UAE began when Chae accompanied the government delegation on their visit to the UAE in January. The relationship continued with the subsequent visit of H.E. Abdulla Saif Al Nuaimi, the UAE Ambassador to Korea, to NAVER 1784 in March. <END>
