NAVER Pay (CEO Park Sang-jin) has joined forces with Chiliz (CEO Alexandre Dreyfus), a key player in the global sports and entertainment blockchain sector. Announced on May 22, this collaboration aims to bridge fintech with sports and entertainment using Web 3.0 technologies.
The partnership will explore a range of collaborative services designed to connect sport teams and players with their fan communities and provide various cooperative services to strengthen fan engagement through ‘fan tokens’ issued by Chiliz Chain, a blockchain network of Chiliz.
Chiliz has a history of issuing fan tokens for over 70 renowned global sports teams, including Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain, and FC Barcelona. Earlier in February, Chiliz expanded its reach by partnering with the K League to enhance fan-driven activities supported by blockchain technology.
Together, NAVER Pay and Chiliz are set to utilize the Chiliz Chain's fan token ecosystem to roll out diverse services that merge fintech with sports and entertainment offerings. These services are planned to include exclusive ticketing options and fan events tailored for Korean sports enthusiasts.
