NAVER’s “Place AI Briefing,” introduced last June, has been shown to enhance efficiency in exploring restaurants, cafés, and other venues, while also providing tangible benefits for business operations.
NAVER Corporation (CEO Choi Soo-yeon) announced on the 21st that an analysis of key user metrics—such as average time spent and click-through rates—for businesses using Place AI Briefing revealed significant increases.
Place AI Briefing is a service that summarizes the latest reviews of restaurants, cafés, and other businesses registered on NAVER Place. The service's key feature is summarizing extensive reviews into easily digestible insights. When users search for a specific business via the NAVER app or map app, the AI provides details based on curated photos and real user reviews such as the signature menu’s highlights, the venue’s atmosphere and features, as well as practical information like notes and reservation availability.
Businesses adopting Place AI Briefing have seen increases in user time spent and more active exploration within the Place search area compared to before its introduction.
The average time spent—a key metric reflecting user interest in business information—rose by 10.4%. The click-through rate, which indicates additional exploration driven by user interest, also increased by 27.4%.
In particular, the “View More” tab for detailed business information recorded a remarkable 137% increase in click-through rate, while the “View More Menu” rose by 30%.
This demonstrates that users who viewed well-summarized information via AI Briefing are more likely to move on to explore detailed menu tabs and additional business information.
The increased exploration driven by Place AI Briefing has also translated into higher reservations and orders, directly supporting business operations.
NAVER’s analysis showed that, for businesses using AI Briefing, the number of reservations and orders increased by approximately 8% compared to before its adoption.
By enabling users to efficiently explore essential details such as signature menus, atmosphere, reservation methods, and special notes through Place AI Briefing, the service has helped increase users’ intent to visit or order from these businesses.
For instance, AI Briefing delivers specific venue insights tailored to user needs, such as “quiet atmosphere suitable for business meetings” or “rooftop and outdoor seating that allows pets.” This enables users to decide whether to visit a place without spending excessive time searching for details.
Building on these results, NAVER plans to enhance the Place AI Briefing search experience further. Currently, AI Briefing is provided only for business name searches, but in the future, it will also cover additional user queries, such as restaurant parking conditions or the availability of baby chairs, providing AI-powered responses to diverse search queries.
In addition, NAVER plans to expand AI Briefing beyond restaurants and cafés to sectors such as lodging, beauty, and attractions, with the goal of achieving double-digit coverage of location-related queries within this year.
Choi Ji-hoon, Leader of NAVER Place Search&Content, stated, “The accumulated high-quality review data in NAVER Place has improved the quality and accuracy of AI Briefing, proving that it provides real value in helping users explore and choose places. Moving forward, we will continue to enhance Place AI Briefing so that it not only boosts efficiency and satisfaction for users but also firmly establishes itself as a service that provides tangible benefits for business owners.”
Meanwhile, NAVER Place is introducing a range of AI solutions beyond AI Briefing to support business owners’ operations. Notable examples include “Place Clip,” which generates scripts to help businesses easily create promotional videos, and an “AI Review Management Solution,” currently in beta, which drafts reply templates for customer reviews. NAVER has also applied AI to photo tab filters so that high-quality, highly relevant images are prioritized in display. (End)
