NAVER Corporation (CEO Choi Soo-yeon) and Spotify are launching a comprehensive synergy to enhance users’ audio content experience and expand membership benefits. Spotify membership has newly joined NAVER Plus Membership, and users can enjoy its audio content seamlessly through navigation in the NAVER Map app.
Spotify now included in the NAVER Plus Membership for just KRW 4,900 a month, expanding digital content from OTT and gaming to streaming
Starting on November 27, “Spotify Premium Basic,” a Spotify membership, has been added to the digital content benefits of NAVER’s paid subscription, NAVER Plus Membership. “Spotify Premium Basic” is a service that offers ad-free, real-time access to more than 100 million songs and approximately 7 million podcasts for KRW 7,900 per month (excluding VAT).
Through this collaboration, NAVER Plus Membership users can access Spotify’s extensive audio content at no additional cost, with a monthly subscription of KRW 4,900 (including VAT; KRW 3,900/month for annual plans). This marks Spotify’s first partnership in Korea that integrates both its membership and the platform.
Audio streaming experiences expand across the entire NAVER ecosystem, from search to navigation
Spotify’s audio content is now more accessible and diverse across NAVER’s entire service ecosystem.
Spotify is now integrated into NAVER Map’s navigation, offering a more convenient and stable music listening experience. When users start the “Directions” feature in NAVER Map’s navigation, a Spotify icon appears at the top-right corner of the screen, allowing quick access to the Spotify app.
Additionally, when searching for songs or albums on NAVER, users can preview content using the Spotify player, and Spotify’s music charts and various playlists will soon be available. In the future, the two companies plan to expand audio content recommendations and music listening experiences across various NAVER platforms, based on strong personalization and recommendation features.
As digital content offerings expand, NAVER introduces the “Additional Subscription” feature for multiple content selections
As NAVER Plus Membership’s digital content benefits continue to expand to OTT, games, webtoons, and streaming, an Additional Subscription feature is also provided, allowing users to access multiple digital content services simultaneously.
Previously, users could select only one digital content benefit among Netflix, MS Game Pass, and Webtoon/Series Cookies. However, with the newly introduced Additional Subscription feature, they can additionally use Spotify or Webtoon/Series Cookies.
For example, users who subscribe to Netflix’s ad-supported plan as a digital content benefit can use “Spotify Premium Basic” at the same time for KRW 5,900 per month, which is cheaper than the standard Spotify membership, and can receive 59 cookies for Webtoon/Series for an additional KRW 4,900 per month. The Additional Subscription feature is currently applied selectively to some digital content, in accordance with partner policies, and will be gradually expanded in the future.
Lee Jae-hoo, Head of NAVER App Service Division, said, “Discussions and collaboration with partners across various sectors are actively underway to provide users with new experiences and diverse benefits.” He added, “NAVER will continue to strengthen synergy with big brands that possess the highest loyalty and competitiveness to build differentiated user experiences and retention.” (End)
