NAVER Cloud (CEO Kim Yu-won) announced that it is accelerating its expansion into Japan’s public sector market by showcasing NAVER CareCall, the company’s AI check-in call service, at Government & Public Sector Week Japan 2026, held in Tokyo from May 13 to 15.
Sponsored by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Government & Public Sector Week is the country’s largest exhibition for the smart city and public digital transformation (DX) sectors. The event has established itself as a key platform for public DX, drawing approximately 21,000 officials from 554 municipalities last year.
NAVER Cloud received a strong response at the exhibition by setting up a dedicated space where visitors could experience the NAVER CareCall service firsthand. Attendees were able to receive a CareCall directly on their smartphones and experience natural conversations with the AI, sharing daily check-ins and health updates. In particular, CareCall’s unrivaled conversational AI technology and interactive features drew praise from representatives of major Japanese municipalities at the venue, who recognized it as a practical solution ready for immediate implementation.
During the exhibition, NAVER Cloud held consultations with numerous municipalities interested in adopting CareCall, expanding its business touchpoints nationwide. Officials who participated in the consultations expressed strong confidence in CareCall’s natural command of Japanese, as well as its proven success in the local market.
NAVER CareCall was deployed last June in Izumo City, one of Japan’s super-aged municipalities. There, CareCall has established itself as AI infrastructure that helps reduce care gaps caused by workforce shortages by taking over repetitive tasks performed by welfare personnel.
At the exhibition, NAVER Cloud co-hosted a seminar with Izumo City under the theme “Digital Transformation of Elderly Care,” sharing CareCall’s proof-of-concept process and operational results. With Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare estimating that approximately 2.4 million caregiving workers will be needed this year, officials interested in adopting CareCall continued to visit the booth.
“While our collaboration with Izumo City last year marked our first step into the Japanese public sector market, this event is meaningful in that we were able to expand our touchpoints by meeting municipal officials from across the country in one place,” said Kim Yu-won, CEO of NAVER Cloud. “As demand for caregiving continues to rise in Japan, we will expand our presence in the public sector market as a partner that solves practical challenges on the ground through AI technology.”
