NAVER Corp. (CEO Choi Soo-yeon) announced that it is running the BE LOCAL campaign from June 5 to July 19, introducing a wide range of hotspots that help international visitors experience Korea’s local culture more fully.
Organized in partnership with Busan Metropolitan City and the Korea Tourism Organization, the 2026 BE LOCAL campaign centers on “the most local way to enjoy Busan,” spotlighting the city as it gains recognition as a global gourmet destination. As part of the campaign, NAVER is introducing some 300 hotspots in Seoul and across Busan, including Haeundae, Seomyeon and Gijang. Users who set the NAVER Map app to a non-Korean language can view the recommended locations at a glance through the BE LOCAL tab at the top of the app.
The three partners are also working with popular restaurants in Busan to offer a range of benefits that help international tourists enjoy Busan in more diverse ways. Through the NAVER Map app, visitors can receive discount coupons for local restaurants, including MICHELIN-selected establishments, and easily make reservations, pay, and plan their visits.
In addition, NAVER is offering BE LOCAL PASS, a coupon pack for international tourists, through partnerships with lifestyle brands and convenience stores favored by foreign visitors. The pass includes coupons that can be used at stores such as Amorepacific, CU and JUNO HAIR. NAVER will also feature content on local tourism offerings, including Lotte World Adventure Busan and the Haeundae Beach Train.
NAVER has also introduced Passport Verification, allowing foreign users to verify their identity with a passport. The feature is expected to make it easier for visitors to verify their identity and use NAVER Booking, NAVER Order and payment services, helping them enjoy a more satisfying trip to Korea. Since launching multilingual maps in English, Chinese and Japanese in 2018, NAVER Map has continued to upgrade its features for foreign users and has established itself as a must-have Korea travel app for international visitors. In April this year, the number of NAVER Map users with non-Korean language settings increased by 16.4% compared with September last year, when the BE LOCAL campaign Season 2 began, reaching an all-time high.
“NAVER Map continues to evolve as an all-in-one platform that allows visitors to discover hotspots and local trends, make reservations and orders, complete payments and get around easily and conveniently in one place. We are enhancing the service so that international visitors to Korea can enjoy a more satisfying trip and experience Korea’s local culture in greater depth,” said Choi Seunglak, Head of NAVER Map Division. “With a variety of global events, including concerts and festivals, scheduled in Busan in June, we expect NAVER Map to serve as a useful Korea travel guide for international tourists visiting the city through the BE LOCAL campaign.” (End)
