NAVER Booking Marks 10th Anniversary; A “Capable Sales Manager” for Merchants, an “Essential Lifestyle Service” for Users

NAVER Place is launching a special campaign to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its reservation service, sharing appreciation with business owners and users who have used the platform over the past decade.

NAVER Corporation (CEO Choi Soo-yeon) announced on September 1 that it will run the “10 Years with Business Owners: NAVER Booking” campaign throughout September to commemorate the 10th anniversary of its NAVER Place reservation service.

Launched in 2015 as a campground reservation solution, NAVER Booking has since grown into a trusted “national service” used by both business owners and users alike

NAVER Booking was first introduced in March 2015 as a solution offering online reservation features to campground operators.

To ease the burden for business owners who would otherwise face high costs and long timeline to build their own reservation systems, NAVER launched a reservation solution that allowed them to view and manage all bookings at a glance. The service quickly gained strong traction, expanding beyond campgrounds to restaurants, hair salons, lodging, leisure, performances and exhibitions, and medical clinics, establishing itself as Korea’s representative reservation service.

One in two Koreans has used NAVER Booking; 500 million total bookings over 10 years

The scale of NAVER Booking’s presence is evident in usage data collected over the past decade.

According to data released by NAVER Place, approximately 27.67 million users have used NAVER Booking in the past 10 years, meaning one in two Koreans has used the reservation service at least once.

Cumulative bookings reached 500 million, with about 69 million user reviews written after using services through NAVER Booking.

By age group, users in their 20s and 30s accounted for 62% of total bookings, indicating a relatively high usage rate among younger generations.

NAVER launched a dedicated web page for its 10th anniversary campaign, releasing key performance data from the past decade in the form of infographics.

“A capable manager that works 24/7”—interviews with five business owners who grew alongside the platform

NAVER also released a video featuring interviews with five business owners who achieved meaningful growth by actively using the NAVER Booking solution over the past decade. The owners of a barbecue restaurant, hair salon, perfume workshop, campground, and music studio shared specific experiences and insights on how NAVER Booking served as a springboard for their business growth.

A campground owner who has used NAVER Booking for 10 years reflected, “Ten years ago, building a reservation system would have cost KRW 10 to 20 million, which was a major burden. However, after adopting NAVER Booking, everything from bookings to cancelations and refunds can be handled in one place. It felt like having an additional employee.”

A perfume workshop owner also shared, “The reservation data is automatically collected so that I can analyze peak hours and popular products to use in marketing. It goes beyond a simple reservation system. It feels like having ‘a capable manager that works 24/7’ and a dependable data analyst at the same time.”

NAVER Booking offers various perks during the 10th anniversary campaign: Up to 10% points back on reservations

To thank users and business owners for helping NAVER Booking grow into “Korea’s leading reservation service,” NAVER is launching several promotional events. These include special point rewards of up to 10% in NAVER Pay points and additional rewards totaling KRW 60 million.

Throughout September, NAVER will offer time-limited perks by industry category that change weekly. During this period, users who make reservations will earn an additional 5% in NAVER Pay points on top of the standard reward rate. NAVER Plus Membership users can earn up to 10% back in points depending on their total purchase amount.

*NAVER Plus Members receive an additional 4% in points on monthly spending up to KRW 200,000, on top of the standard 1%. For spending between KRW 200,000 and KRW 3,000,000, they receive an extra 1% in addition to the base 1%.

In addition, the top 1,000 users ranked by total payment amount who complete reservations and payments across 2 or more industry categories will share KRW 30 million in NAVER Pay points.

NAVER is also launching the “Cheer for Business Owners Review Event” to promote mutual growth with merchants. Users who leave a review with words of encouragement and the required hashtag “#Booking10thAnniversary” after using a service through NAVER Booking will be automatically entered into a prize draw. A total of KRW 30 million in NAVER Pay points will be awarded to 1,000 randomly selected participants.

Lee Sangchul, leader of NAVER Place, stated, “NAVER Place reservation service has grown over the past 10 years thanks to the warm support and continued use by both users and business owners.” He added, “We will further enhance the platform’s features and expand support efforts to ensure NAVER Booking continues to serve as a key growth solution for SMEs.” (End)
