NAVER (CEO Choi Soo-yeon) announced on July 15 that AI Tab, its agentic search service, has reached 10 million users. The milestone reflects NAVER’s success in combining its distinctive assets across search, shopping, local services and content with AI technology to create a competitive AI offering.
AI Tab Reshapes the Search Experience, Demonstrating the Potential of an Action-Oriented AI Agent Built for Problem-Solving
Going beyond conversational search to help users take real-world action, AI Tab is demonstrating the potential of an action-oriented AI agent and rapidly becoming part of everyday life. By naturally extending the familiar search experience, AI Tab gives users across Korea an easy, intuitive way to engage with a new form of AI-powered conversational search.
This progress rests on more than 20 years of NAVER search technology and infrastructure, as well as a vast content ecosystem that includes NAVER Blog and NAVER Cafe. Unlike other conversational AI services, AI Tab moves seamlessly from information discovery to real-world actions such as purchases and reservations. It also closely reflects the context of users in Korea, delivering a search experience distinct from those offered by global general-purpose AI models.
Since its official launch, AI Tab has also begun to reshape how users search. The average number of daily queries is now seven times what it was during the beta phase, while queries per user have risen 1.7-fold. Multi-turn conversations are also more common, with users increasingly asking follow-up questions instead of ending after a single query. AI Tab also draws on purchase data, shopping reviews and a wide range of user-generated content (UGC) to deliver personalized recommendations for everyday searches, from researching electronics and comparing household products to seeking fashion recommendations, cutting search-to-decision time by as much as 60%–70%.
AI Tab Connects with AI Briefing to Deliver a Seamless Search Experience; NAVER Extends AI Agents to Real Estate, Whale and Health
NAVER plans to continue expanding action-oriented AI agent capabilities and refining the service so more users can make AI Tab part of their daily lives.
Starting today, AI Briefing—used by more than 30 million people each month—will feature a new chat box at the bottom that links directly to AI Tab. After reviewing key points in AI Briefing, users can continue in AI Tab with follow-up questions and more in-depth exploration. NAVER will also strengthen integration among Smart Lens, AI Briefing and AI Tab to enhance the image-based search experience by the end of this month. When users photograph a product with Smart Lens or upload an image, they can review key information in AI Briefing, then move seamlessly into AI Tab to ask follow-up questions and complete a purchase.
In August, NAVER will unveil a property-search agent linked to NAVER Real Estate, along with an AI agent tailored to the Whale browser. The real estate agent will combine NAVER Pay Real Estate data, user-linked asset information and UGC to recommend personalized listings, along with reviews from actual residents and property analysis. In the Whale browser, users will be able to launch the agent from the sidebar and use it for a wide range of browsing tasks, including summarizing webpages and reviewing browsing history.
By year-end, NAVER also plans to introduce a health agent that provides personalized health information based on verified sources. In addition to providing trustworthy answers grounded in authoritative medical information, the agent will connect with NAVER services—including firsthand experiences shared on NAVER Cafe and searches for hospitals and supplements—to deliver a personalized health management experience.
Kim Kwang-hyun, NAVER’s Chief Data & Content Officer (CDO), said, “Through AI Tab, NAVER will deliver a search experience tailored to users in Korea that clearly stands apart from other conversational AI services at home and abroad. We will continue to enhance the service, making it the most reliable of its kind and an indispensable part of users’ everyday lives.”
